I would like to encourage other small communities to draw people to their activities by telling more of Belview’s Story.
Marlo Sander, Mayor of Belview has been instrumental in bringing activity to our community. He saw the value in beginning “Small Town Saturday Nights” in Belview during the summer months. By engaging various community clubs to participate, a special supper is available, free popcorn and hayrides, classic car, vintage tractor and motorcycle display, and a variety of farmer’s market and craft booths are available. This happens the second Saturday of May-August, cumulating with a big celebration on Old SOD Day on September 18th. (SOD = School Odeon & Depot–our 3 historic buildings in town) Marlo has been the driving force to bring people into our small community which has brought people to come live & work here. Many Blandin graduates are instrumental in the vitality of Belview. We are lucky to enjoy the beauty of the MN River Valley area and rich farmlands.
The old time family and fun evenings of Small Town Saturday Nights provided by many donations of time and efforts by the people of Belview, are a great way to share an evening with neighbors and visitors alike. The mini golf course at the City Park is a great addition and draws visitors from all around. Belview has parks, frisbee golf, horse-shoe courts, ball diamonds, and museum and historic buildings to tour, along with businesses open for the evenings. Come visit, bring your lawn chair and see what small town life has to offer! You may even catch the hayride to our local Echo Creek Winery for wine tasting! Enjoy small town life at its best!
